Welcome to the new UTS Tigers website. UTS Tigers is a rugby league club run with the support of the University of Technology, Sydney Union (UTS Union) and rugby league foundation club, the mighty Balmain Tigers. The club encourages student participation but is open to all people, students or otherwise, who want to play rugby league. It fields 1st and 2nd grade teams in the NSW Tertiary League competition. Training is at Blackmore Oval on Wednesdays and Tempe Recreational Reserve on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:00. Games take place on Saturdays and the home ground is Balmain's historic Leichhardt Oval.

Tigers fall to rival in both grades

On a windy Saturday at Blackmore Oval, UTS Tigers 1st Grade made its 2012 home debut against traditional rivals, Norwest Polecats. The Tigers faced their first big test of the season against the competition leaders and came up short, as Norwest continued its unbeaten start to the season with a 24-18 win. Daniel Hamad was outstanding in a losing team.

1sts crush ANU, 2nds struggle

In the nation's capital, UTS Tigers 1st Grade crushed ANU Grizzlies 48-22, the team that 2nd Grade upset in the 2011 second grade grand final. The Tigers 1st Grade team blitzed the Grizzlies in the opening 50 minutes, putting on 38 without reply, before easing up in the final half hour. The quartet of Tigers props was outstanding as was fullback Ronald Pena.

Anzac Day at the Red Lion

The commemoration of Anzac Day is one of the great traditions at UTS RLFC and the club will again run Anzac Day events at the Red Lion on Wednesday. See you all there from midday onwards.
